WOMEN HAVE UNIQUE HEALTHCARE NEEDS

At Women’s Healthcare of Monroe we are committed to providing quality surgical services according to what you need.

HYSTERECTOMY

A hysterectomy is surgery to take out a woman’s uterus, the organ in a woman’s belly where a baby grows during pregnancy. After a hysterectomy, you will not be able to get pregnant.

ENDOMETRIAL ABLATION

An Endometrial Ablation is a procedure that destroys the uterine lining, or endometrium. This procedure is used to treat dysfunctional or abnormal uterine bleeding.

TUBAL LIGATION

Tubal ligation is an operation to stop a woman from getting pregnant. It is permanent. Therefore, you should only consider this procedure if you are sure you will never want another child.

CESAREAN SECTION

C-section births are done for reasons including fetal distress, labor failing to progress. This happens typically after a woman has been laboring and the baby has to be delivered abdominally.

SURGICAL PROCEDURES

DR RALPH B ARMSTRONG

Women’s Healthcare of Monroe OB/GYN and GYN surgeon, Dr. Ralph B Armstrong, is well-versed in both traditional (open abdominal) as well as minimally invasive techniques, performing advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries. Dr. Armstrong offers the highest quality surgical care for both obstetrics (childbirth) and gynecology (diseases of the female reproductive organs).

Obstetrics and gynecology are two surgical specialties, often abbreviated OB/GYN, that deal with female reproductive organs. The field of obstetrics specifically focuses on pregnancy and child delivery, whereas gynecology takes a broader stance and is concerned with general female reproductive health. Women’s Healthcare of Monroe provides a full range of OB/GYN procedures including traditional and minimally invasive options for therapeutic or diagnostics reasons.

Dr Armstrong has performed thousands of surgeries in North Louisiana at Saint Francis Medical Center, Glenwood Regional Medical Center, P & S Surgical Hospital, and Monroe Surgical Hospital over the past 20 years.
